Pregnant in Oregon
Are you currently pregnant? Pregnancies can happen unexpected when you do not have coverage. Call us immediately if you are caught uninsured at the first indication of a pregnancy. You can enroll in the Oregon medical insurance pool (OMIP) through Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. The effective date will be the first day of the following month, as long as the paperwork is filled out correctly. You should send all paperwork back to our office to avoid delays.
Pregnancies can be very expensive. Premature babies are some of the largest claims (over $500,000). A cesarean section birth could be upwards of $40,000. Traditional births are usually under $10,000. Do not take the chance of the first two situations. The cost of a pregnancy on OMIP is around $1500 plus the monthly premium. Assuming the birth is normal; we will move you to a different plan with better benefits and a much lower premium after the six week wellness check.
